Abuse and neglect (both physical and emotional), are part of adverse childhood experiences, and have psychological and physical consequences in the lives of individuals. This study aims to understand how these experiences affect personality traits, psychopathy, and aggression. The sample is made up of 1.007 individuals, young adults and adults of Portuguese nationality. We used the instruments the Life History of Aggression, the Childhood Adversity History Questionnaire, the NEO-Five Factor Inventory, and the Triarchic Psychopathy Measure. Data was collected online, from which we were hoping to understand the repercussions of adverse childhood experiences. We verify, using network analysis that physical and emotional abuse are strongly interconnected, and that emotional abuse occupies a central position in the network. However, the relationships between physical and emotional neglect indicate a more indirect impact. Besides, some types of abuse and neglect showed relationship where others didn’t which can be related to the type and dynamic of the abuse.eng
