Resumo(s)

This study is part of a research project aiming at analyzing peak fat oxidation (PFO), maximal oxygen uptake and performance in elite female football players. The present study aimed to 1) profile PFO and Fatmax levels in elite female football players; 2) determine how these variables associate with sprint and intermittent exercise performance, as well as with physical and physiological performance during training and match-play; and 3) describe the short-term (8-week) training-induced changes in body composition, peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak), PFO, and Fatmax. Two teams from the Danish Women's League were invited to participate, of which a total of six female football players' data belonging to one of the teams, were analyzed in the present sub-study. In the period between the pre- and post-training evaluations, two training sessions and friendly two friendly matches were monitored through Global Position System Units and heart rate (HR) monitors.
